Maureen O'Hara Biography
Maureen O'Hara was a renowned American
actor and singer who was of Irish descent. The green-eyed beauty sporting
flaming red hair was famous for her passionate and fiery parts in numerous
American films. Her beauty and elegance were highly praised. Also, she was
known as the 'Queen Of Technicolor' in Hollywood. Her roles onscreen reflect
her brave, strong character. She fought for recognition and survival in an era
of male dominance. She was known as the "tough Irish girl" and did
not sacrifice her fame or respect to gain the roles she won through merit. In
her time in the film industry, she always stood up against discrimination and
injustice against female actors. For this, she earned numerous followers. The
autobiography she wrote, "Tis herself", published in 2004 gave a
candid account of her entire life , including the struggles she faced when she
made her way up the ladder to success. She was an adventurous person who wasn't
afraid to try herself at her own tricks. Over the years she appeared in over 60
films, and gained a lot of popularity throughout the world. In the wake of
Parra and remarried in 1968 with Charles F. Blair Jr. who was a brigadier in
the past, former chief pilot, and an early pioneer in transatlantic air travel,
to mention a few achievements. O'Hara took a break just a few years after the
couple's marriage. Blair, however, died in a tragic crash on a plane in the
year 1978. O'Hara's happiness was short-lived. She was also diagnosed with
uterine cancer the same year. She was treated for it and then had surgery
immediately. She eventually recovered. She had six heart attacks, short-term
memory loss as well as diabetes type 2 throughout the years. On October 24,
2015, O'Hara peacefully expired in Boise, Idaho, from natural causes at the age
of 95.
